Special Series Workshops

There are 4 new exciting specialist series workshops for fascial bodyworkers.

Various dates are available for these workshops in London and Glasgow and we welcome students who may have attended MFR workshops elsewhere to apply, please call or e-mail for further details. 


Myofascial Release for Abdominal Scarring and Adhesions

Prerequisite: iMFT level 1 or a minimum of 1 day post graduate CPD workshop in MFR via another training organisation.

As soon as the body is injured, it scars. Scarring and their adhesions can produce a myriad of uncomfortable postural and functional symptoms as well as affecting general health and wellbeing.

This 1 day workshop brings fascinating fascial techniques for the structures in and around the abdominal area all of which can be affected by fascial adhesions and scarring.

Objectives:
The participant will:

  • examine the development of scar tissue and adhesions and how they affect the entire fascial system
  • learn how to assess and palpate adhesions in the abdominal area
  • learn appropriate fascial techniques in order to provide relief from fascial tension and restriction
  • learn how to use appropriate fascial techniques for scars such as caesarean sections
  • explore the importance of emotion/feelings in relation to scars and adhesions

Myofascial Release for the Spine and Sacrum

Prerequisite: iMFT level 1 or a minimum of 1 day post graduate CPD workshop in MFR via another training organisation.

This 1 day workshop will look at the anatomy and function of the spine and sacrum. This workshop offers diagnostic skills and easy to use fascial techniques in order to regain correct movement, balance and function promoting general health and wellbeing.

Objectives:

The participants will:

  • learn how to assess the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine
  • explore the relationship between the sacrum and lumbar spine
  • explore how vertebral restrictions can affect the entire structure
  • learn appropriate fascial techniques for the quadratus lumborum and erector spinae
  • learn appropriate fascial techniques to unlock jammed vertebrae and promote freedom of movement

Myofascial Release for Breast Health

Prerequisite: iMFT level 1 or a minimum of 1 day post graduate CPD workshop in MFR via another training organisation.

Both men and women are affected by treatment and scarring of the breast area. This 1 day workshop will provide the student with a greater understanding of how cancer treatments affect the breast area as well as how tissue is changed by breast augmentation, reconstruction, mastectomy and general scarring. This workshop offers the student appropriate fascial techniques to work effectively in this area with consideration to the sensitivity of the patient/client by using practical draping.

Objectives:

The participant will:

  • learn how to assess fascial restrictions in the breast and axilla
  • explore fascial scarring and adhesion treatment options with regards to breast augmentation, mastectomy and reconstruction
  • learn fascial techniques to restore range of movement and function in the shoulder, neck and thoracic area
  • explore the importance of emotion/feelings in relation to scars and adhesions
  • learn self care techniques to share with clients

Myofascial Release for the Temporomandibular area (TMJ)

Prerequisite: iMFT level 1 or a minimum of 1 day post graduate CPD workshop in MFR via another training organisation.

This 1 day workshop will discuss the anatomy and function of the temporomandibular area and the importance of its relationship to the rest of the body with regards to stability, posture and musculoskeletal function. The student will learn valuable fascial techniques for the 4 main muscles of mastication, including intra-oral work, as well as general techniques for the restoration of health and wellbeing.

Objectives:

The participant will:

  • explore the anatomy of the TMJ joint
  • explore the relationship of the jaw, pelvis and cranial bones with regards to balance
  • explore the symptoms related to Bruxism, jaw clenching and joint popping
  • explore the importance of the TMJ area with regards to posture
  • learn how to assess fascial restrictions surrounding the TMJ area
  • learn effective fascial techniques for the muscles of mastication

The special series workshop are not designed for the novice MFR therapist. MFR UK reserves the right to refuse attendance to any of the above workshops if the student does not have adequate experience and/or training to be able to use the techniques offered.
